How far in advance should I book bridal alterations?+
We recommend booking your first bridal fitting 10–12 weeks before your wedding date, with the final fitting roughly two weeks out. For custom gowns, allow 8–14 weeks of build time. Rush appointments are sometimes available — call us as soon as you have a dress in hand.
How much do wedding dress alterations cost in Baldwin, NY?+
Most full bridal alteration packages at our Baldwin atelier range from $450 to $1,200 depending on complexity (hem, bustle, bodice work, lace re-application). Simple alterations start at $150. You'll receive a detailed quote at your first consultation — never surprise pricing.
Do you offer custom-made wedding gowns?+
Yes. We design and build fully bespoke wedding dresses from sketch to final stitch in our Baldwin studio. Timelines run 8–14 weeks depending on construction. We source silks, laces, and beadwork to match your vision.
What's a bustle and do I need one?+
A bustle gathers your train up off the floor after the ceremony so you can move, dance, and breathe. Almost every wedding gown with a train needs one. We install American (over), French (under), Austrian (cinched), and ballroom bustles — chosen to match your dress.
Do you alter dresses you didn't make or sell?+
Absolutely. The vast majority of gowns we alter were purchased elsewhere — including from boutiques, online retailers, sample sales, vintage shops, and family heirlooms. Bring it in; we'll make it yours.
Do you serve clients outside Baldwin?+
Yes. Our clients come from across Nassau County and Long Island — Garden City, Rockville Centre, Long Beach, Massapequa, Hempstead, Freeport, Merrick, and beyond. We're 25 minutes from most of Long Island and easy to reach from the LIRR.
Can you alter beaded or lace gowns?+
Yes — that's our specialty. We hand-remove and re-apply beadwork and lace where seams are taken in, so the finished gown reads as if it were built for you. Most shops cut through; we don't.
Do you offer sewing lessons?+
Yes. We run a small sewing school out of the atelier with private 1-on-1 lessons and beginner-friendly group classes. We also teach pattern-drafting and garment reconstruction for intermediate students.
